STRCS

This is a user-written Stata command for fitting flexible parametric survival models on the log-hazard scale. The files for this program can be downloaded and installed by running the command ‘ssc install strcs’ in Stata.

Using this approach, the log hazard function is modelled directly using restricted cubic splines. Models fitted using strcs are similar to those fitted on the log cumulative hazard scale using the stpm2 command, but the spline function estimates the log hazard rather than the log cumulative hazard. Time-dependent effects can be fitted in the model when using the strcs command. Post-estimation predictions can be obtained from the models.
