STNS

Net survival is the survival probability in the hypothetical situation where the disease was the only possible cause of death. Net survival is an estimator within the relative survival setting that was developed for population-based data research where the cause of death is unavailable or considered unreliable. Net survival enables comparison between countries with different background mortality.

It has been implemented in STATA with the stns command. The program can be installed by running the command ‘ssc install stns’ in Stata.
